People are the water that makes Egypt strong. However, be weary to determine help for your allies, to threats from your enemies. With trade you encounter other cities whom often request "goods" or financial sustenence from you. Available early on in the campaign, trade is essential to both your economic prosperity, your people, your mission, and ofcourse, your safety. Trade is another important aspect in most scenarios in Pharaoh. Enemy armies will lay waste too your entire city if you leave it unprotected. As in any city-building game, ensuring your safe borders is a must. You deal with tribes of Bedouin soldiers, Canaanites, Libyans, Nubians, Sea People(thought to be early form of Greeks, possibly Cretans/Cypriots), Hyksos, Hittites, etc.

In the Ancient Egyptian era in which this game covers, you shall see that. This time period may seem old to you, older than the Roman period, older than the Greek period, however, there are many kingdoms and tribes that lived before the Romans, Greeks, and Persians. As you will recieve either a blessing from appeasing the Gods, or wrath from infuriating the Gods. Religion is another aspect very important to Pharaoh. If your sloppy with provided funds, you will not complete the scenario. By divisions I mean:įinancial Management is arguably the most important. But as you fellow city-builders already know, and those of you whom are still reading this review because your interested in the game, or your just quite bored, you may know the city-building games come with separate divisions. Ofcourse, as mentioned before, the gameplay deals with citybuilding as the #1 aspect of it. The Gameplay in Pharaoh is quite intriguing for the time period. I dare not spoil the game for your, so I shall leave it there. This adds a challenge even to the most experienced members of Pharaoh, yet also gives newbie players a chance to enjoy the game as well. There are 5 game modes: Very Easy, Easy, Normal, Hard, Very Hard. This isn't a game you can complete in a day. The Second Intermediate Period (1,640-1,570 BC) The First Intermediate Period (2,160-2,040 BC)

The First few being Village Elder, Village Noble, Royal Scholar. There are about 15 ranks in Pharaoh to achieve. Progressing through the years gradually in game. Village Elder does not carry a salary, but the following rank, Village Noble, carries a 2 deben(the form of currency in Pharaoh) per month salary. This is drawn from city funds and put into your own personal treasury. Slowly as you progress up the ranks, your monthly salary increases. Though you virtually have no power in this rank, it's a good start to the top. In campaign mode, the first rank you achieve is Village Elder. You assend through the ranks gradually as the game progresses along. You begin in Pharaoh with virtually no rank in the game at all. Pharaoh is a really time-consuming game, but it is quite enjoyable. Pharaoh is one of those revolutionary early city-building games that we all come to love.
